Les Paul Came by for a Visit
22-Dec-06
My new guitar arrived just the other day, and I am in rock heaven. I can’t put it down. I just keeping picking it up and playing with it. I am so pleased with my purchase. It is an Epiphone Les Paul Standard. I got it for a steal at $250. It was a factory refurbished B-stock guitar, but you’d never know it to look at it or play it. There is just the tiniest of flaws on the cream body binding on the side, but I only noticed it because I scrutinized every square inch of the instrument. The sound is great, with clear highs and wonderful Les Paul distortion and the sustain goes on for decades. It is also easy to play, with its fast, slim neck. It is all that I could have hoped for. My only criticism is that the nut is made of plastic and it stands out on an otherwise beautiful guitar. It just looks a little cheap, but what else could they use for that kind of money?

My new toy, still in the box.

My new black beauty.
Of course, I’m sure the Gibson Les Paul is nicer, but since I don’t have the extra $2,000 laying around, this will have to do. It is by far the nicest guitar I have ever owned, but that’s not saying much. It is my first quality guitar, and it is amazing what having a quality instrument will do for your playing. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have waited as long as I did to buy a nice instrument. Kudos to Epiphone for making such a fine product.
