A New House, a New Beer

Well, my wife and I have just about finished moving. A few odds and ends remain at the old homestead, but we are in our new place. After a week of living here it looks a little better.

One challenge of moving was how to move the five gallon carboy of English Pale Ale I brewed at the end of February. See, this wouldn’t have been a problem if I’d bottled the stuff when it was ready, but because of life, moving, and my general constant state of procrastination, I still hadn’t bottled as of yesterday. But, since there was no way in hell I was going to move a five gallon glass jug of home brew with an airlock on top, I was forced to finally bottle. I am glad I did.

I had considered dumping the beer, mostly because it sat in the secondary fermenter for two months and I figured it would have gone bad. When I finally bottled the beer yesterday, I was pleasantly surprised to taste its goodness. Far better than my first batch too! Now I am all fired up about home brewing again, and as soon as I get squared away on our new house, and install a utility sink in the basement, I will brew another batch. In the mean time, I am counting the days until the beer is properly carbonated and ready to enjoy. If you’re interested, I have posted my label for my second batch in Elfin Musings. Hope you like it.
