The Searches People Do
25-Mar-01
So today I’m reviewing my weekly web logs, briefly noting the places from where people have viewed my pages and so on, and I was struck with how completely surprising some of the searches are that people do which bring them to my site. Most of the searches seem to come from Google, but there are other search engines as well. One of my favorites is one for boyhood+nude+art which brings up my Books & Movies page. Fabulous. I bet I’m now on some FBI watch list or something. All because I have a web page that discusses a North Carolina man’s autobiography and The Big Lebowski on a single page. Even better is the fact that the the title of the page, displayed prominently on the Google search results list, is “Elf’s Favorite Stuff”. I assure all of you that the Elf, while being very appreciative of all art, is not particularly keen on nudes of young boys, whether artistic or otherwise.
Another interesting one was gay+grandpas which brought about my little piece on family and responsibility. I mean come on! That’s just funny. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining. I think anyone searching for gay grandpas can be just as interested in my little article as someone searching for, say, eunuch Caribbean bridge players, and I am grateful when anyone takes time to look at my site.
There are, of course, more mundane searches on fascism and homosexuality in professional wrestling that bring hits to my pages. These tend to be academic in nature and fairly specific. Pretty cool, though, that people doing research are at least looking at my site, however briefly. Several searches for Murry Lawnmowers bring my story “Frigid” up as the very first page! (You’re just going to have to read it to find out why). A search for Avon Lady jokes will also bring up this story.
Finally, two other searches I found fun were one for “nude lois lane superman,” which brings up my Books & Movies page again, and one for nude+high+elf. I don’t want to know what that guy was thinking, but I can imagine some pretty frightening possibilities. But hey - it’s all good when someone takes the time to view the Elf’s website. So to all of what appears to be about ten of you now, thanks for reading and I hope you have enjoyed your elfin experience.
